How the numbers are worked out

Projected hours
Hours logged so far, divided by the share of the work that is done. 260 hours at 50% complete projects to 520.
Projected cost
Projected hours times your cost per hour, plus other costs.
Margin
Fee minus projected cost, as a share of the fee.
Break-even
Fee minus other costs, divided by cost per hour. Past this many hours, the project loses money.
Slack
Break-even hours minus projected hours. It is what is left over if the rest of the job goes at the same pace.
